Mo Music

I generally keep my innards to myself, but I've recently come to the conclusion that my innards ain't my own ... the vultures are circling and I no longer fear their plucky humor. So, just below are a few old motunes for falcons, cattle and sperm whales. They’re all pretty much unfinished, listed in chronological order of creation and, (dare I say it?) raw (wow, what a word), I fear for your soul.

  • My Harley – Written and played (originally) by Chester, was originally “My Pony.” I converted it to a California Harley love song, and made it worse in the process … I ain’t sad about it, it’s the damned truth man.
  • Mfanya – Yup, that’s my name. Dated a woman for 9 years and “dissolved” it. Then I lost my fabulous dotcom job at (my lord) food.com and, of course, the world caved in.
  • Every Third Step – this is an original jazz tune by me, mo. I had the ambition to join a school for jazz, and didn’t get in. Can you imagine why?
  • Bettie Blues – So, I separated from the love of my life, and soon after went to Vegas … nothing stays there, not even lies. Lies carry like Louis Vuitton.
  • Evil Shoes | Just Last Tuesday – I fell in love with a woman I, in theory, should not have. We wrote this song together, partly. I think this is the best song I’ve written. It’s also personally painful, and really long, so, just a warning ... it will feel like a still drill. It’s 12 minutes long! I think it picks up around 8:14, right when my voice comes in ... fucking vanity.
  • Only I Know – This is the nail in the coffin for me with the blondes. I mean, c’mon! What the hell am I doing? Nothing against blondes, you know, or women exactly, or sex or love or anything like that. But this was the nail. Actually, it ain’t, I ain’t written a song about that one yet … this was probably the first nail amongst how ever many it takes to keep a human locked in.
  • Writhing on the Floor – This is a wretched drug song written for a musical and, well, I'm still workin' on the musical.
  • Oldest (With Video) | Oldest (Solely Music) – I wrote this song for a project between a friend and I. He created the photos and video, I made the music. It’s called “oldest” because I came up with the opening guitar part when I was 13.
  • Like an Ocean - I love this song. I didn't write it. It's a song by the one band I've played with in my whole goddang life. Ties me back to a certain time. This version is a remix I made of it. I love, absolutely love, hearing the voices of the women on it. Still, I feel it fits quite properly with the theme of the other songs I've written ... entirely appropriate. Though now, I wish all the people recorded in this song, all the cats in the band, would just come on back. (I must admit, there is a funky drummer in this one, please don't shoot me ... or do, though I'd prefer you don't, not for that at least ... many more reasons than that).

I’m done, no more music for me. I kick it to the curb. Forever. I will neither listen, look at nor touch music again.

xoxo,

mo
